The staff at Syncopate Meetings & Events is experienced in all aspects of meetings and convention management from initial conception and strategic planning through contract, budget creation, marketing, registration, sales, full planning and post convention phases. Syncopate supports all types of meetings, from intimate board meetings and larger city-wide tradeshows and all types of events from small, intimate weddings to large corporate functions. The staff at Syncopate has experience with strategic planning, board/staff trainings and structure consultation along with all types of digital and virtual meeting platforms.

Syncopate’s expertise includes site selection, venue and vendor contract negotiation, event marketing, registration, strategic planning (including goals, budgets, program design), speaker procurement and management, event design, exhibit/sponsorship sales, on-site management & post-event reconciliation.  In the field of special events, Syncopate specializes in event design including venue selection, entertainment contracting, food & beverage selection and decoration for private or corporate gatherings. Taking your event virtual? Syncopate can help either with staff consultation or full planning services.

REBECCA TAKEMOTO

Rebecca is the owner and principal planner for Syncopate. She has been planning events professionally for well over 20 years. In college she caught the planner bug as a student event coordinator and never looked back. She studied vocal performance and pedagogy at BYU and Utah State University. If you’re nice, she might sing for you! Rebecca lives in Leesburg VA with her husband and 4 children.

KELLY THORNTON

Kelly has worked with Syncopate since 2009, when she and Rebecca met in Northern Virginia. Since that time, she has kept the ‘satellite’ offices of Syncopate open as she’s moved around the world. Kelly now lives in Athens, Greece. Kelly’s specialty lies in the customer service. As a 14 year Delta Airlines employee, she learned a thing or two about keeping people happy!

GENE SUMMERS

Gene and Rebecca met while studying music at Utah State University many (MANY) years ago. They have a sort of shorthand that comes only from working closely together for so many years.  As one client put it “Gene has a very gentle way about him that lets him guide the exhibitors through difficult setups or challenging circumstances with the absolute minimum of hassle. His ability to calm even the most frustrated customer is superb.” We couldn’t agree more!

MINDY RICH

Mindy keeps everyone together and on task. At Syncopate, she does a little bit of everything! Mindy has lived all over the world, most recently in South Africa. Her adaptability and easy demeanor makes her perfect for onsite work and her impeccable organization makes her irreplaceable in the office. Mindy’s our newest employee and we’re so happy to have her! She lives in Ashburn, VA with her husband and 5 children.
